OUR MISSION

Give Her Wings exists to serve and equip mamas who are victims of domestic abuse and to equip the church to serve all victims of domestic abuse. 

Who We Serve

We serve two groups of people: mamas who are victims of domestic abuse and the church. We seek to serve each in hopes that one day there will be no need for our organization. This is our hope because we want to see the church serving all mamas and bring justice and redemption to each mama escaping domestic abuse.

The women who founded Give Her Wings created the organization with the intent to help mamas who have been abandoned by their church communities as a result of bad theology. This foundation fuels our ministry, but we strive to serve all mamas, regardless of their church affiliation. All women, a part of the church or not, are nominated, and we seek to serve who the Lord provides the resources for us to serve.

How We Serve

We serve our mamas through a two-year process where we support them financially, emotionally, and spiritually. We provide our mamas with an emergency grant and with gifts that provide financial, emotional, and spiritual support. We also connect our mamas with women who will support them through this hard season of life. 

We serve the church through the Academy. The Academy is a one-year course for churches, church members, church leaders, Christian counselors, therapists, first responders, attorneys, survivors, friends/families of the abused, etc. It is our prayer that the Lord will continue to use our course to raise up leaders in the church and throughout the Christian community to bring justice and redemption to domestic abuse within the church.  

OUR FAITH 

Give Her Wings is a nondenominational, Christian organization dedicated to serving God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit through our ministry to the spiritual widow and orphan and to the church.

What We Believe

We hold to the Apostle's Creed:

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
      creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
      who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
      and born of the virgin Mary.
      He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
      was crucified, died, and was buried;
      he descended to hell.
      The third day he rose again from the dead.
      He ascended to heaven
      and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
      From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
      the holy catholic* church,
      the communion of saints,
      the forgiveness of sins,
      the resurrection of the body,
      and the life everlasting. Amen.

*that is, the true Christian church of all times and all places.

How We Serve Through Our Faith

God's Word empowers and commands us to love the afflicted and oppressed. This fuels our ministry and is the foundation of our ministry. 

We believe that God calls his children to look after the orphans and the widows. At Give Her Wings, we seek to serve the spiritual widow and orphan. We serve mamas who have been afflicted and oppressed by their husbands and have courageously left their marriages. We also seek to empower and equip the church to do the same. God clearly defines this throughout Scripture, and we refer to James 1:27 (CSB):

"Pure and undefiled religion before God the Father is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself unstained from the world." 

We do not serve our mamas and the church by our own power; we serve through the power of the Holy Spirit. God is the one who rescues the orphan and the widow. We are his vessels. We find this beautiful hope in Psalm 68:5-6 (CSB):

"God in his holy dwelling is a father of the fatherless and a champion of widows. God provides homes for those who are deserted. He leads out the prisoners to prosperity, but the rebellious live in a scorched land."
